English is the world's most widespread language. Therefore, many countries are reinforcing and reforming foreign language. Therefore, many countries are reinforcing and reforming foreign language teaching at its basic stage. English teaching, especially spoken English, has become an increasing concern. In order to improve students'comprehensive abilities in English application, we should promote our junior spoken English teaching reform first. However, there is no lack of"slow and inefficient teaching"and"dumb English learners"in the current spoken English teaching practice. And hence our teaching strategies are out of date. Passive learning still exists. Both teachers and students yield low effects. In order to improve students'spoken English efficiently, it is essential that we should do some research on effective spoken English teaching in junior high schools.Zibo Yizhong Foreign Languages School is a foreign language school to stress students'spoken English teaching. It has made many commendable attempts in carrying out education reforms and innovations. And it has experienced all kinds of practice reforms in English teaching. This thesis studies spoken English teaching in Zibo Yizhong Foreign Languages School by using case study and it diagnoses the spoken English teaching in this school by using the criterions of the effective spoken English teaching. It also puts forward the relative ways to improve spoken English teaching. The writer arrives at the following review: to achieve the goal of the effective spoken English teaching, we should set specific teaching aims, choose the appropriate teaching contents, manage the classes effectively, innovate many kinds of teaching assessing ways and improve the teachers'comprehensive qualities. The writer hopes it can help to make the spoken English teaching in Zibo Yizhong Foreign Languages School more effectively, and it can also accelerate the development of spoken English teaching research.This research is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction. It focuses on putting forward the problem, the current condition of study. It illustrates the theoretical and practical significance, and related research methods.The second part surveys the general situations about spoken English effective teaching. It defines the conceptions and criterions of oral English effective teaching. It also analyses the value of doing such research.The third part presents the teaching practice in Zibo Yizhong Foreign Languages School. It introduces the school in details and also tells about spoken English teaching of junior high school.The fourth part diagnoses the spoken English teaching of this school by using the criterions of the effective spoken English teaching. It examines the effective factors from the aspects of teaching aims, teaching contents, class managements, teaching estimates and the teachers'comprehensive qualities.The last part expounds the ways to better achieve the goal of effective oral English teaching in junior high schools. On the basis of research of Zibo Yizhong Foreign Languages School, the writer lists some ways to improve effective spoken English teaching, and make suggestions on how to make effective spoken English teaching develop better in the future.
