The new High School English Curriculum Standards issued by State Education Commission has brought forward higher request to high school spoken English teaching. English spoken language ability is considered to be one of the elements of humanity synthesizes quality. It is required by the global society to promote the students’linguistic competence, as well as a problem every English teacher must pay close attention to.However, in terms of college entrance examination system and the restricts of various factors, our country’s spoken English teaching falls behind relatively. The author analyzed the definition and characteristic of spoken English, understood the theories of spoken English teaching, mastered the current situation of spoken English teaching at home and abroad through questionnaire investigation, class activity inspecting and family inquiries.Regards to how to improve oral English teaching, some opinions are put forward and breakthroughs are expected to be gained. It is aimed at forming a typical teaching stereotype, improving the students’ oral English and enhancing the teachers’ competence of spoken English teaching.This article analyzes and discusses about current situation, problem and countermeasure of oral English teaching in middle school.What’s more,it has brought forward some views with regard to better designing and organizing oral English teaching.
