| Nowadays, the field of education in the world sets off a wave of reflection on the constructivism, and people shift from partisan to more scientific, rational and in-depth understanding. However, one of keys to understanding and practicing the essence of constructivism is the modeling of thinking.The "second-order observation" methodology put forward by cybernetic constructivism has brought good inspiration to the theory and practice of educational technology. And the modeling of thinking reflects this idea typically, which is a powerful strategy to stimulate, support and assess the change of concepts for learners. As a style of constructivist learning, the modeling of thinking is a guidance from the theoretical level to practice. This is mainly reflected in: First, the modeling of thinking promotes learners to use the modeling tools to build and express the understanding of current situation based on previous knowledge and experience. Second, the modeling of thinking can actively promote learners to modify the structure of self-concept model, and help learners to enrich and expand the meaning of cognitive conceptual model through various recognition forms, which can promote deeper understanding of knowledge and flexible application.In view of continuous development of constructivist theory and practice, the author will start from ideas of"theories explain practices, practices prove theories", and carry on theoretical reflection and empirical research on the theory of constructivist teaching and learning. First, the paper focuses on the nature and methodology of the control system theory (second-order cybernetics constructivism)based on former studies into constructivism ; Then, the paper describes the types, process ,theoretical foundation and the teaching and learning meaning of the modeling of thinking; Finally, the combination of "think aloud"technique, the author conducts a study of constructivist teaching practice——by studying the fact that high school students use Stella to construct geographical knowledge (exploring the relationship between population and natural resources),I study these three questions:(1)In accordance with changes of students′meta-cognitive ability, I know that the theory of cybernetics constructivism and modeling has affected students well;(2)I analysis the factors which affect modeling differences between excellent and poor students based on empirical research that high school students use modeling techniques;(3)I explore problems of the development of Chinese modeling software .The outcomes of this study are: (1)The modeling process include five modeling activities: creating stocks, creating flows, creating converters, creating relationships, testing model, which show five methods of thinking : planing, analyzing,reasoning,synthesizing and evaluating. So the modeling improves students′cognitive abilities effectively ;(2) Excellent and poor students in experimental group are affected by many reasons, having significant differences when constructing model to explore scientific issues. |
