The Research On Internationalization-oriented University Teachers' Core Quality

The development of economic globalization propels the process of the internationalization of higher education forward continuously. In order to cultivate internationalization-oriented talents, universities should prepare the teachers who can adapt to the internationalization of higher education. The teachers themselves also should improve their quality to face the challenge of the internationalization of higher education. Around internationalization-oriented university teachers'core quality, the research is carried out in this paper.The author mainly used literature research, interview and investigation in this paper. According to the result of literature research, the original list of 24 teachers'quality indexes was determined. Based on this, through the interview with the university teacher and some subject experts and the field investigation and the individual research about the famous Harvard University, the author added and changed some indexes in the original list of the quality indexes. At the mean time, the frequency of each index in my research was count. Then use the result of the statistics to estimate the importance of each index. Based on the importance, all the indexes were divided into two parts: core qualities and general qualities. Next, the author used the competency mode to sort and organize the indexes, then, gave a brief illustration to form the final research conclusion. The first conclusion is three-level list of the internationalization-oriented university teachers'core quality. The second conclusion is a brief illustration to the level 2 or 3 indexes. Compared to the former research, this research has deeply got into the level of the index. The classification to the indexes is more reasonable, and the organization is more systematic and structured. After that, through a brief summary and analysis of the present status about the internationalization-oriented qualities of the teachers in S university and the measures she has taken, the author put forward some supplemental suggestions for S university to improve teachers'quality. The significance to this paper is to give some reference to the university which has chosen an internationalization-oriented mode of development. Also, it can give some advices to the university teacher, who is faced with the trend of the internationalization of higher education. The experts in this research all come from Shanghai, so the reliability of the research is to be improved. The author hope the future research can enlarge the research cope, and give a more universal conclusion.
