Objective To investigate the prevalence and distribution of behavioral problems in Suzhou city, and to understand its related factors of behavior problems of child and to provide basis for developing interventions.Methods The questionnaires, which including Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL, for parent's table ), Family Environment Scale(FES-CV), and a self-designed questionnaire about the related factors, were used for surveying school-aged children in 1-6 grades selected from 2 urban primary schools and 3 rural primary schools by using cluster sampling method. The data were input and analyzed by SPSS software package.Results The results showed that the prevalence rate of behavioral problems was 19.6% and there was difference between urban and rural children, and no gender difference and no difference of behavior problem rates among the different grades, and the significant difference among the pupils with the different education levels of parents. The results indicated that the protective factors of behavior problem of children are Cohesion, Expressiveness, Intellectual, but Conflict, Achievement Orientation for the risk factors.Conclusions The family psyche environments have great effect on behavior problems of children, and the attention must be paid to the importance of family environments. The family is more important place for living for child. The behavior patterns of child are more affected by their parents. The results provide the scientific evidence for education, and more early found and more effectively modified their behavior problems, to develop their mental heath and cultivate all-around health of children developing.
