Maximum and minimum value is the important content of the high school mathematics curriculum. However, it brings students great difficulty because its content is loose and the approaches to dealing with it more than one kind. Under the guidance of new teaching theory, this research is aimed at exploring the better way to solve such Maximum and minimum value problems.Based on the existing research results related to this aspect, this research does separately questionnaire survey of teachers'teaching theory and of the cases of students'learning. According to the survey, 80% of the students show little interest in Maximum and minimum value problems. The main reason for their lack of interest is that the content of Maximum and minimum value is loose and that exercises is rather difficult because of comprehensiveness and the fact that this part is closely related to practical life, along with other mathematics knowledge. Besides, teaching of this part itself still exists such problems as follows:1) there is big difference among students in their previous learning basis and some students lack the abilities of calculating and logical reasoning.2) teachers perform poorly, lacking updated teaching concept, unchangeable teaching methods, improper analysis of importance and difficulties and limited guidance.3) mathematical way of thinking in the mathematics teaching isn't paid much attention to and therefore hasn't got developed. To improve the teaching of this part, we can take measures in the following aspects.1)By providing the concrete examples, students will be aware of the application of Maximum and minimum value problems in life. Meanwhile students'motivation will be aroused. 2)By arranging properly the number of classes and selecting exercises, students will be able to learn Maximum and minimum value problems well and therefore, lay the basis for learning other knowledge of mathematics. 3) Using the multimedia to help them understand Maximum and minimum value problems. And in this way students'interest in study will be aroused. 4)By connecting mathematics with practice and understanding it as a whole, students will be aware that such problems can be applied in daily life.5)By strengthening the mathematical way of thinking in teaching, students will develop a variety of thinking to solve Maximum and minimum value problems. 6)By using the information technology in teaching, Maximum and minimum value problems will be shown directly and the mathematics classroom will get better.
