As the background of the research and application of the inquiry learning in the present international and national education circles, combined the teaching and practical application of Mao zedong Thought and the Socialist Theoretical System with Chinese Characteristics, this article illustrates the important role of the inquiry learning in ideology and politics courses in colleges and universities from the aspects of theory and practice; analyses the current situation; discusses the principle, the teaching philosophy, the teaching content, the teaching method and the teaching and evaluation mechanism; explores the application of inquiry learning in ideology and politics courses in colleges and universities and sums up the experience in teaching practice to improve the actual effects in ideology and politics courses.At present, the inquiry learning study in domestic colleges is just in the early stage, this article aims to provide some reference for those who focuse on the inquiry learning study in ideology and politics courses in colleges and universities.
