Classical poems and ci are a pearl in the Chinese Classical cultural treasury, being of vital importance in the Chinese Classical culture. China has a long tradition of poem education. Classical poems and ci exert eternal influence on the construction of the people's spirit and person's character and morals and attach immortal impact on the later generations' spirit by their concise language, abundant connotation, boundless charm, touching feeling.Teaching and learning Classical poems and ci plays a great important role in senior middle school's Chinese subject. Whereas, as the inheritors of Chinese people's cultural tradition, the senior middle school students do not take big interest in it, leading the efficiency of teaching and learning them declining, the education's quality of this part lowering and the prospect being worried about. Therefore, it is necessary to know the status quo of teaching and learning Classical poems and ci in senior middle school, find the problem,figure out the crux and put forward the corresponding solution in order to advance this part's teaching and learning by investigation.This dissertation consists of four chapters.Chapter One, research background and meaning. Mainly introducing the meaning, background, and, the current research situation of this investigation.Chapter Two, research method. This investigation mainly implies questionaire and interviewing methods.Chapter Three, data statistics and problem analysis. It is the dominant part of this investigation. The plenty and detailed first-hand material and data present the basic sates quo of teaching and learning Classical poems and ci in senior middle school of Shanghai.Firstly, only over forty percent of the senior middle school students have interest in Classical poems and ci, however the students of higher grades and the lower level's school take less interest in learning them. Secondly, the main factors influencing students' learning are students' private hobbies, teachers' quality and their teaching preference and teaching efficiency. Thirdly, the main purpose of students' learning Classical poems and ci is to enhance their liberal accomplishment and get more scores in the college entrance examination. Fourthly, the main content of teaching and learning Classical poems and ci is composed of the methods of appreciation, the knowledge of style of writing and the composing background, but many students holds the attitude of arriving the level of basicly understanding them. Lastly, the students' accumulation of Classical poems and ci and liberal accomplishment play the paramount role in influencing the quality of teaching and learning Classical poems and ci. and also the percent score of this part in the college entrance examination still exerts important influence. Chapter Four, conclusion and suggestion. According to the existing problem, this paper will put forward several pertinent suggestions and measures, hoping to offer some help to the Classical poems and ci teaching and learning in senior middle school. Firstly, the college entrance examination influences students' learning attitude, the teaching content arrangement and methods' choice. Hence, the teachers should stimulate students' learning interest, while facing the college entrance examination. Secondly, students take little interest in Classical poems and ci, teachers should change teaching forms and methods to strengthen provoking, set questions to suspenses, to apply multi-media teaching method and so on to cultivate and stir up students' learning interest, and to build up their learning enthusiasm. Thirdly, in the process of teaching and learning Classical poems and ci students mostly cares about their teachers' professional accomplishment. So the teachers should enhance their professional accomplishment by varied forms, such as to engage in advanced studies, take further professional training and self-study. Fourthly, the number of Classical poems and ci in the textbook is in serious shortage, so the teachers should select some supplementary teaching material in large range to meet the need of the students comprehensively, deeply, systematically feel the art charm and the connotation of the Classical poems and ci. Lastly, the campus cultural atmosphere palys an important roles in cultivating students' interest, but few school pay attention to it. So the teachers of Chinese subject should propel the construction of campus cultural atmosphere with the theme of ardently loving Classical poems and ci.The appendix consists three questionaire of different interviewees, such as senior middle school student, Chinese subject teacher and college student.Comparing with other investigation report, this dissertation has the following characteristics and creativities. Firstly, it has a large range of samples, covering two hundred senior middle school Chinese subject teachers, more than one thousand and eight hundred senior middle school students coming from twenty-two schools of the whole ten regions and counties in Shanghai, and fifty freshmen of Chinese department of Fudan university, reflecting the universal and representative problems. Secondly, deep interviews of Chinese subject teachers, professors and specialists guarantee the breadth of scope, the height of view and the depth of comprehension.
