| Nowadays, most of our Primary Schools have English classes. They have a foundation before they enter Junior Middle School.Theoretically speaking, this is helpful for their English learning in future. However, It is found in researches that most of the students become less interested in English after they go to the Junior Middle School.They are lack of confidence and they are retrograde in English learning. It seems that there is a big gap of the English teaching between Primary School and Junior Middle School. Under the new curriculum standard, How to learn English smoothly according to the development of the psychological characteristics and learning rules of language. How to make the students get the correct learning strategy.good study habits and interest in English learning.How to make a smooth teaching transition from Primary School to Junior Middle School? This is a major problems facing all the teachers both in Primary School and Junior Middle School.To conduct a comprehensive investigation of the teaching situation, the author go to the Primary School and Junior Middle School in rural area of Enshi, Hubei Province. Using questionnaires and interview, trying to analyse the convergence phase of the local Primary School and Junior Middle School objectively. It is found that the textbooks do not link closely, the teaching methods do not converge between Primary School and Junior Middle School, and the study strategies and study habits of the students' do not converge. In response to these three problems, the author made a further interview with the teachers in local primary and secondary school. It is proved that the quality of the Primary School is not ideal, there is a serious shortage of primary English teacher, and the teachers between Primary School and Junior Middle School do not communicate with each other.Under the new curriculum standards, the cognitive development theory, the constructivism and humanism theory, this article put forward three levels of constructive ideas. For administrative department, they should build a stable and excellent primary school English teachers and strengthen the interface between primary and secondary school English textbooks. For the teachers, they should improve their own teaching quality, reform the English teaching evaluation system and analyse the starting point of the students. For the students, they should change their attitude towards learning and develop a proper learning strategies and good study habits. |
