Textbook is the necessary part of teaching. Teachers can decide what they want to teach through the teaching material. The textbook used in Korean schools is written according to the education curriculum. So it includes the education curriculum's target and the teaching content. For korean students, the Chinese and English textbooks are all foreign languages textbooks. Thus the present thesis aims to be based on the teaching and learning foreign languages theory fundamentals. A comparitive study between the two textbooks(chinese and english) based on the language key elements, the language skills and the cultural content will be undertaken. The present thesis focuses on the comparison between Chinese and English middle school textbook and is based on the Korean "new curriculum of 2007". Through this comparative study, we will be able to identify Chinese textbook particularities and its shortages. The present thesis can be divided into three parts:(1) Comparative study between Chinese and English middle school textbook based on the "new curriculum of 2007' content.(2) Comparative study between Chinese and English textbook representation and teaching content then sort the differences between them.(3) Comparative study between Chinese and English teaching material of junior high school based on the language elements, the four language skills and the cultural content.Through these comparison studies and contrast, it appears that when it comes to vocabulary, grammar and culture content, these two textbooks (English and Chinese) perfectly meet the curriculum requirements. Arrangement is the major difference between Chinese and English textbooks. The Chinese textbook lacks types and quantity of pronunciation exercises. The arrangement of grammar teaching should be more systematical and the cultural content more variable. The Chinese textbook also lacks balance in the practice of each of the four language skills and should also enhance the number and type of exercises. This paper received views from Korean students through a survey questionnaire testing their level of satisfaction on the two foreign language textbooks. We have gone through an analytical study to bring some constructive suggestions to the Chinese middle school textbook in Korea.
