A Case Study On The Influence Of Family Education On The Career Development Of Chinese Contemporary Young People

Chinese have always made the most of their children's education. They wish their children to have a wonderful career and a bright future. All of Chinese parents expect their son to grow as a dragon, or expect the daughter to grow as a phoenix(In Chinese traditional culture, dragon is stand peace and powerful, also the is super king of all animals; Phoenix is stand for beauty and sacred, also is the Queen of all kinds of birds). They also think that all things are beneath contempt, only high school. The Chinese sage Confucius says that a good scholar can become an official, he who excels in study can follow an official career. These traditional career concepts are deeply rooted in people's mind, and handed down from generation to generation. Family education and expectation of the parents to their children at different periods of history showed a different nature and characteristics. And now, most of the adolescents was born in the 1980s, and their family had shown a strong trend of only one child, alternate-generation education, single-parent family and so on. And the change has also shown in the mode and contents of the family education. For example, in Chinese ancient family, children must obey to their fathers. Nowadays, Parent-Child Relationship changes to democracy, equal and reasonable, and you can see clearly a tendency of diversify. Chinese parents are beginning to turn attention to their children's career development.Based on the theories of career development, the author employs narrative inquiry in current study, presents a common young people's career story, in order to discuss the influence of one's family education on his career development. The story was mundane, full, and integrity. In addition to describe the vivid and active story, the author pay attention to the young people's inner experience, and his attitudes to his parents and family education.The current study's main purpose is to accurately present the relationship between family education and the young man's career development. It shows the micro aspects of career education in family, finds out the role of family education. By doing this qualitative research, the current study investigates parents to have a better understanding of their family education, and helps adults to revive their consciousness of career development, establish their career development planning.
