Students autonomy is the trend of the higher education in recent years, having been attended by more and more countries. In the current college students management, no matter how comprehensive we set the rule , how large the team we build, it is very difficult to handle everything handy. In the current years, student management system in our universities there have been various problems to deal with difficultly. Student autonomy in the universities is to create autonomous organizations, by allowing students to participate democratically in the school management. It protects the rights of students. It tempers the ability of their independence, and then offer advice and suggestions for the development of our universities to contribute their efforts .Required by the Higher Education Modernization, students autonomy is one of the most effective measures to solve the current student management difficulties encountering in the university. Thus, we must strive to promote the conversion of management of university students, leaving students more autonomy in space in the college management system . Students in colleges and universities increase knowledge on the one hand, on the other hand, the school environment has a very big impact on them in behavior, thoughts and feelings and the future . Students are given the general arrangements and greater freedom to shape their lives and learning in schools.American has been always famous for its"democracy, equality, freedom". Students autonomy has its rich history soil, it has been always in the forefront in the world, it is the very important places to train college students to have a sense of free , democratic and independence .It improves the overall quality . Therefore, this article is introduced and analyzed on the theory and practice about American students autonomy , in the hope of giving the inspiration of the development of students autonomy in China.This article is divided into five parts: The first chapter is the brief introduction of the students autonomy in American University. This part mainly presents the tradition and the present in American Universities. Chapter II elaborates the students autonomy from the politic, economics, sociology, management and culture . We do an objective analysis of the pros and cons in the fourth Chapter about the status of the students autonomy in the United States . Therefore, in the fifth chapter of this article, some students autonomy are given by combining our university environment.
