Applying Gender theory and reviewing historical documents, the essay carries out a comparative study of the domestic roles and social status between Mongolians and Han Chinese women in modern Turned area. It illustrates the main topic by some particular case studies based on fieldwork in the relevant area.The essay consists of five parts:1) Introduction:It gives the reason of topic choice, the research significance, the current research status, the method and the establishment of relevant concepts.2) Domestic roles:This part compares and the analysis domestic roles between Mongolian and Han Chinese women. It combines a revision of current literature and field investigations to look at the relationship between husbands and wives, mother and children, and the in-laws, as well as inheritance right of women.3) Social roles:this part compares the distribution of work, the participation of community services and the religious believes.4) Influencing factors:the part investigate the factors which influence the women's roles, namely gender, nationality and culture.5) Conclusion:After a century's living in a same community, frequent interaction and mutual influences, there are still distinct differences between Mongolian and Han Chinese women's domestic and social roles in Tiimed area. The essay concludes that these differences are mainly due to ethnic cultural traditions.
