China is expected to continue to lead growth, expanding by 9.5% in 2010, with investment in infrastructure helping to remove supply-side constraints and spur even faster growth beyond 2010.A brighter economic outlook should also encourage further investment by the private sector. China is likely to emerge in 2010 as the world's second-largest economy. The economy of the United States is the world's largest, its nominal GDP was estimated to be $14.3 trillion in 2009. The size of the sports business industry reach an estimated value of $1 trillion, 7% of GDP, which is only 0.7% in China. That presents unprecedented opportunities and challenges for Chinese sports industry.Sports industry is the manufacturing of sport related goods, services, and ideas through the combination of sport activities with business, mass media. It aims at maximizing its economic profits and social effects. Due to its wide involvement in society, sport industry, therefore, is of vital significance on both macro and micro levels. In the United States, professional sports leagues share a number of characteristics that distinguish their structure, conduct and performance from any other industry. The sheer scale and daily media coverage of Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA), or the National Hockey League (NHL) today is a testimony to the success of the business. The Four Major Professional Sports League have made significant contributions to sports industry in the United States, but also maintained their preeminent position in respective events. A highly developed sports industry is also proved to be the cornerstone of a world sports power.Analyzing the evolvement and industrial features of Four Major Professional Sports Leagues on the basis of theory of Industrial Economics and Sociology of Development, offering valuable references for the development of Chinese sports industry, and this is the focus of my paper.
