The research has found that there is a low academic achievement among Lahu ethnic minority students through a field work in Hekai community, Menghun town, Yunnan province. And the problem takes on two features, namely the low grade of Lahu ethnic minority students' academic examinations and the intermittent dropping out among them. This problem has been discussed many times on different occasions by many scholars. They are inclined to attribute it to lacking support from specific regional socail-ecnomy power. It is really persuasive for attributing like this. But besides this reason, perhaps there should be other factors that are hindering the development of education in these regions. These factors may be profound, the ecological environment of the specific minority regions and minorities'traditional culture etc. for example. And these factors may have different effect on different minorities' education.Through in-depth interview and participant observation among Lahu ethnic minority students'parents, school teachers and Lahu ethnic minority students themselves, what the research has found are that the attention of education among Lahu students'parents is not so high; Lahu ethnic minority parents'educational level is relatively lower; the rise of tea trade made the Lahu students intermittently drop out;poor teaching conditions and lack of preschool education for Lahu children in montanic Lahu community; the conflict between Lahu traditional culture and modern school culture and conflict among ethnic minorities are the reasons for the problem.The author also points out that establishing courses that are accord with local realities, strengthening the management of students, adopting measures which is suited for local conditions while incorporating schools, increasingly supporting on preschool education in rural areas, improving local teachers'academic level and enhancing communication among all ethnic groups in school would be the countermeasures after has analyzed the attribution of low academic achievement among Lahu students.
