The development of basic education in minority areas lags behind, and students' low academic achievement is a prominent problem. The state has invested a lot of resources and preferential policies to improve it,but the effect is unsatisfactory. Therefore, the key to solving this problem is to break the conventional thinking and find the hidden crux behind students' low academic achievements. This study examines the D township school in Y county, southwest of central Gansu province. It is found that the school has a lagging infrastructure construction, students' academic performance is generally low,the dropout rate is high, the quality education is not in place, the teachers are weak, and language adaptation problem. On this basis,by describing the day of the D Township school students, the students' school life status is presented dynamically and microscopically.Through the thematic analysis method, the attitude of local people to school education was examined from three aspects, they are the views of D people on reading, the views of D people on dropping out of school, and the expectations of D people in their children. It is found that people from different occupations or classes in D Township basically agree that reading is very important.Although the group of migrant workers at leisure who representing the majority of D's views also agrees that school is very important, they are still largely adhering to the tradition. The attitude of supporting children's study is not firm and thorough. In addition, they still have a negative attitude towards girls' education. In the view of dropping out of school, the control of the school has caused parents to resent the school education.Lack of sensitivity to school dropouts, girls drop out of school is more common. In the expectations of children, most people in D township expect their children to have good conduct, but their academic expectations for their children are very low. Most of them hope that their children can learn Mandarin, literacy, and account at school, and then use this as a springboard and tool to enter the society, and hope that children can live a better life and engage in a profession with higher social prestige. Finally, from the perspectives of cultural differences, role conflicts, rational choices, education system construction, and modernization, this study considers factors such as the influence of language and the differences between local culture and school culture, the influence of students on the role of family and the peer group, parents under economic rationality are busy with their livelihoods, and having no time to discipline their children, resulting in the lack of supervision of students, children learn self-determination,the influence of reading uselessness, the lag in the construction of the education system leads to insufficient public confidence in education, the educational problems of left-behind children in the context of modernization are important reasons for the low academic achievement of students in D Township.
