The curriculum reform of elementary education requests teachers to have high accomplishment and level, which needs normal students in Teachers Colleges and Universities to be competent for elementary education teaching. Whether the normal students can adapt to the elementary education is closely related to the university teachers'quality. However, the teacher educators'elementary education accomplishment is still to be improved because of the fact that many teacher educators are not familiar with the basic education teaching, and lack favorable conditions and systems as well. High attention attached to this research can not only promote the professional development of teachers but also contribute to the smooth implementation of the new elementary education curriculum reform. This article has specially done the research regarding this.Firstly, this research uses questionnaire method and interviewing method to discuss teacher educators'accomplishment for elementary education in Southwest University. Systematic investigations have be done among teacher educators and normal students in terms of elementary education teaching, the curriculum, views about teachers and students and management. The result shows that both teachers and students are unfamiliar with the elementary education teaching and the concepts and implementation progress of the new elementary education curriculum reform.Secondly, according to the results of the survey, teacher educators'accomplishment for elementary education is far from perfect. This is manifested in the aspects below. First, teachers know little about the concept of the new curriculum reform and implementation progress of the reform among primary and secondary schools. Second, teachers are unfamiliar with the teaching, courses, teachers and the students and management. In classroom teaching, teachers fail to relate theory to practice and put the concepts of basic education into knowledge inculcation.Thirdly, there are some reasons for the educational accomplishment's lacking according to the survey. The first one is about teacher educators themselves. Most of the teachers take to work in the colleges just after graduation, and don't have the chances to practice the basic education. The second one is the negative influence of the teaching method in colleges. The theory knowledge in colleges have the characters of abstract and universality, and the teacher education lacking pertinence. The third one is the weakness of scientific talents evaluation mechanism。They pay much more attention to scientific research than teaching so that most of the teachers devoted themselves to researching then have the negative influence on teaching. The fourth one is of shortage of the policy. The cooperation between colleges and primary schools isn't based on specific system but emotional foundation, so the quality of cooperation cannot be warranted. The fifth one is that the primary schools can't offer the basic conditions in time management, evaluation mechanism, school culture and resources supporting for college teachers to improve the teacher educators'accomplishment for elementary education。Finally, in order to promote teachers'professional development, several countermeasures of improving teachers educators'fundamental educational accomplishment are put forward based on the reference of foreign teachers' professional development and the related experience which include the following points:Formulating policy to standardize college teachers' supporting education and research activities to middle and primary schools; Revising evaluation to lead teachers to improve the target of foundation education; Stimulating consciousness to encourage teachers to actively support education and research to middle and primary schools; Building environment to actively accept normal teachers to do researches in primary and secondary schools.
