Research On The View Of Life And Death Of Dai Groups In Yunnan

The view of life and death of people is about the most basic view and understanding of life and death.The view of life and death of people affects people's attitudes to life and death.It affects the ways to deal with things related life and death. In view of the domestic and foreign research focuses on the university students,dying patients and so on. There is seldom research on view of Minority. The domestic research focuses on the religion and ethnology and some others.Dai groups which is minority lived in southwest of Yunan almost completely believe in Theravada Buddhism. The research perspective is single.The view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan has a strong religious color.On the basis of literature review,and combined with open questionnaire, individual interview techniques, this research put forward the conception of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunan,and compiled the questionnaire of the yunnan dai's view of life and death.The formal questionnaire revision formed after initial test.Then the questionnaire surveyed 702 people of Ethnic Dai Chinese,312 people of Ethnic Han.The researcher analyzed and compared the sample of nation,gender, age, education, relijious situation, got the differences from Ethnic Dai Chinese and Ethnic Han, and Summarized the characteristics of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan.At last,The researcher visited Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Dehong Dai Autonomous Prefecture, exploring the view of life and death of Dai nationalities, after Compared and analyzed Dai of Xishuangbanna and Dai of Dehong,summerizing the reasons of the view of life and death of Dai grouos in Yunnan.The results of the research showed:(1) The questionnaire of view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan had a good reliability and validity. Based on exploring factor analysis, the research found that the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan were constructed with five dimensions:transmigration of Souls, terror of Death, funeral matters, comprehension of exist, and the understanding of death.(2) Generally speaking, people of Dai groups inYunnan in the five dimensions of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan showed a positive trend. The order of scores in each dimension was as following: comprehension of exist, the understanding of death, terror of Death, funeral matters, transmigration of Souls.(3) In the five dimensions of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan, Han groups had significant differences to each other. In the dimension of transmigration of Souls, Dai nationality had significantly difference from Han nationality, Dai scored above han.(4) In the dimension of transmigration of Souls, there were statistically significant differences in gender. And men scored significantly higher than female.(5) In the five dimensions of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan, there were significantly different in age. over 55 years of age group showed greatly differences in five dimensions, in the dimensions of transmigration of Souls and funeral matters,29-54 age group scored higher than 18-28 age group.(6) In the five dimensions of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan, Illiterate group scored higher than other groups. elementary school education group had no difference from Illiterate group.and over-college education group. In some dimensions secondary education group scored higher than junior college group. Junior college group scored lower than other groups.(7) In the five dimensions of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan, the group experience religious above 11 years scored scored higher than other groups. the group lack of faith scored lower than other groups, there were significant difference between each group.In the comparative study, the group experience religion within 6-11 years scored significantly higher than other groups in the dimensions of transmigration of Souls, terror of Death, funeral matters, the understanding of death.Generally speaking, there was significant difference between nationality.(8) There was significant interaction between nationality and religion in the dimension of transmigration of Souls. there was significant difference between Dai and Han.(9) The common characteristic of the view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan was:Overall trend religious. The diversity of influence factors, the appearance in different dimensions would be different, the factor of educational level affected religious deeply.(10) Compared and analyzed Dai of Xishuangbanna and Dai of Dehong:Religious beliefs has a remarkable influence on soul concept,both have the same view;Both have the same strong feeling on Death fear;Both have the some Value thought,fated thought;Different Funeral rites reflect different customs;The understanding of death reflects soul theory,religious end-result;Different folk culture reflects different regional folkway.(11) The reason of The view of life and death of Dai groups in Yunnan summary:Strong religious custom permeates Dai's aspects of life;The same mentality of National unity,funeral rites reflects religious beliefs;Cross-border ethnic culture blends,inheriting unique folk;Highly mational identities,entrenched culture and homes;Many god worship promote the view of soul.
