The Study Of The Political Participation For Staying Women In The Countryside In The Northwest Of China

With the development of the study of immigrant workers and agricultural feminine, a series of issues about the staying women in the countryside have drawn people's attention. Political participation for the females has been ignored by some experts and scholars. Female political participation is an advanced for women liberation and a vital instrument of measuring social progress. The staying women play a significant role in maintaining the stability of the countryside, but there was no symmetry between their contribution and their position which is marginalized politically, which reflects not only the low political position in the countryside, but exposes the existing problems in the construction of the democracy in the grassroots and influences the implementation of modernization in the countryside. Strengthening the awareness of the political participation in the countryside, and exploring the potentials of the staying women politically will play a significant role in enhancing the political position of females in the countryside in the development of the countryside and the agriculture and lifting the role of the females in the construction of new countryside.The thesis was designed from a perspective of social sex, on the basis of theories of social sex and political participation. Case studies of T Village in Longnan City are conducted in the current study. Such methods as questionnaires and interviews are utilized to describe the awareness of political participation for the staying women in the countryside as well as their behaviors. The analysis of the reasons of why obstacles occur in female political participation was carried out from two aspects---the subjective aspects on the staying women and the objective aspects socially. The subsequent applicable policies of improving the image of political participation for the staying women were proposed.
