Investigation Of University Students' Political Participation And The Countermeasures

Political participation is a significant component of human's socialization in politics and an important link that a country trains citizens to be qualified political people.University students belong to a special group among members of society.They are the main force that China builds socialism with Chinese characteristics as well as a significant political force in social and political life.University students are in the most energetic youth in their life which is also the critical period of forming outlook on life,value,and world view.The ideologies,value orientations,and behavioral patterns of university students also change profoundly in this period.Their political participation will concern whether the political culture of the entire society can be passed or not,thus affecting the big issue of social and political system operation.Guided by Marxist theory,this paper makes a deep analysis of the connotation of the political participation of university students.Meanwhile,a questionnaire survey is carried out among full-time undergraduate students in three universities in Liaoning Province,summarizing the current situation of political participation of university students and thoroughly investigating the reasons.This paper pointedly proposes some effective countermeasures to improve the political participation of university students on this basis.The main contents of this paper are divided into five parts:Chapter One is the introduction.This chapter sketches the research background,research purpose,and research significance as well as the writing idea and innovation point of this paper.The research status of this paper is summarized at home and abroad.The innovation point and the key issue to be resolved are also put forward in this chapter.Chapter Two is about the definitions of relevant concepts and theoretical basis.The concept definitions include the definitions of political participation and the political participation of university students.The theoretical basis covers political socialization theory and the popular self-government of Marxism.This chapter analyzes the significance of the political participation of university students.The theoretical foundation is laid for the research in the following part.Chapter Three is about the survey and analysis of the political participation of university students.A questionnaire survey is carried out in three universities in Liaoning Province,analyzing the current situation of the political participation of university students.The political participation of university students includes some positive performances:high political participation enthusiasm of university students,rational political participation behavior of university students,and diversified channels of the political participation of students.Some problems:utilitarian purpose of the political participation of university students,low efficacy of political participation of university students,relatively unordered online political participation of university students,and the deviation between knowledge and action in the political participation of university students also exist in political participation.Chapter Four analyzes the reasons for the existing problems of the political participation of university students.Based on the statistics and analysis of the questionnaire in Chapter Three,this chapter analyzes the causes of the existing problems of the political participation of university students.There are mainly four kinds of reasons.The first is the social factor which affects the political participation of university students.The second is the school education factor which exerts impacts on the political participation of university students.The third is the family factor which affects the political participation of university students.The last is the personal factor which impacts the political participation of university students.Chapter Five mainly proposes corresponding countermeasures to improve the political participation of university students.The countermeasures are primarily as follows:healthy and loose social environment should be constructed;sound atmosphere for political participation should be created.The role as main channel of university education should be given full play;the education and guidance of the political participation of university students should be strengthened.Family should give a full play to its roles in cultivating the awareness of the political participation of university students.Students should enhance their own accomplishments;students'initiatives should be strengthened.
