Goal orientation is that individuals have already gotten the intuition and belief system to tasks before start activities, the intuition and belief system can influence individual enthusiasm in the activities, behavior and strategy that individuals would choose. The goal orientation of Senior Middle School students influences their learning standpoints, attitudes, behaviors and strategies all the time in their English learning. In the English learning process, error is a common thing, students how to face these errors will have a great affect on their academic achievement. For students, error is a kind of valuable resources, how to treat and use these resources will have close relations to improving their academic achievement.This paper does a research on goal orientation and error management about 818 Senior Middle School students through questionnaires and interviews, and discusses the relationships between goal orientation, error management and English academic achievement.The result of the study is showed as follows: (1) The dominant goal orientation of Senior Middle School students is the performance approach goal, and is different among genders, grades and subjects. (2)The whole error management is different among genders, grades and subjects. (3) Significant correlations between goal orientation and error management have been found in this study, the relation between error management and English academic achievement is a significant positive correlation. There are asignificants correlation between goal orientations and English academic achievement. The analysis of path model shows that error management is a moderator variable between goal orientation and achievement.In terms of the research results, the author provides some training strategies for English teaching in high schools: (1) To the error management attitude, the teachers should guide students: error is unavoidable, error is the only way to success. (2) Optimizing the error management process, the teachers should guide the students to collect, arrange, correct, lead the students to share the errors and put these accumulated knowledge and experience to daily life in their studies.
