Liu Daoyu, known as President Must Cai of Wuhan University, is an very important person in the field of higer education and also one of the leading figures in the higer education reform in the eighties of twentieth century. His extensive experience in life, profound thinking in education, full of educational experience, he made active exploration for the innovation and development of the contemporary higher education in China,and he also made important contributions to our higher education .In this process, he formed his special ideas of creative education. In his more than fifty years educational career, he worked for 24 years as a college leader. He is persistent in research of the theory of education reform, and the theory and experience of the Creative Education ,and he always pays attention to China's educational reform and development issues eagerly. Creative Education is the core of his education thoughts. The research of the theory and experience of his Creative Education, not only can provides us a useful reference for the development of Modern Education in China, but also can enhance the self-information in taking the road of independent innovation and building innovation-oriented country, also in creating world-class university.On 29th July,2005, Premier Wen Jiabao went to PLA General Hospital to see the scientist Qian Xuesen, who was ill in bed then. When Qian Xuesen heard that our country was ready to make a new round of technology development plan ,he suggested he wanted to add an education issue, that was about cultivating creative talents.He said, China is still not fully developed, one important reason is that we still have no one university which aims to train invention and innovation of science and technology personnel.We have no innovation something unique and top-notch talents,and this is an important question.The suggestion of Qian Xuesen is sincere and also cuts into the present-day evils, and it fully reflects a scientist of great concern on the national personnel training.We think that the key of the cultivating of the creative talents is to reform the education system and implement Creative Education. It is necessary and timely to research the thought of Liu Daoyu's creative education. Based on the Liu Daoyu's creative educational theory and pratice of system analysis, the paper tries to provide the useful reference for the cultivation of our creative talents. First of all ,the paper reviews the abundant educational activities of Liu Daoyu, and analysis the causes and the process of his creative education thought. Secondly, explain a few core concepts about Creative Education, and then sore out the main content of his thought from three aspects as follows:the aims, the basic conditions of imlpementation and the main ways of imlpementation of his creative education thought. At last, discuss the value and the meaing of Liu Daoyu's creative education thought, explain the active inspirations for the contemporary innovation and development of our education.
