This dissertation gives an account of the development of the history of music curriculum of primary and secondary schools from the prewar (1841-1945) to the postwar (1945-2007) periods in Hong kong. This specific history is divided three periods:from the prewar(1841-1900), from the 20th century to the prewar(1900-1945), and from postwar to the end of 20th century(1945-1993) and 21th century(2000-2007). The contents include teaching materials and methods of music curriculum of primary and secondary schools in Hong kong during the various periods.The auther discusses the development process of music curriculum of Hong kong step by step by means of gathering and arranging the relevant source materials, field survey and interviews with scholars in Hong kong.This dissertation also shows the different contexts of music education in Hong kong and provides a fresh angle for future of music education in China.
