After reviewing the revolutions of the PE curriculum since the establishment of ourcountry, we have found out that the main aim of Chinese secondary PE curriculum hastransformed from “putting competition above everything else”to “healthy first”, which is apositive development. But with the value of health and the overall improvement of economyand the level of living, the health status of our country’s secondary students keeps decreasing. Why? No doubted, the settings of our secondary schools’ PE curriculum which include thesetting of “aim”,“teaching materials” and “system of assessment”etc. have become more andmore mature. But we still need to be in accordance with dialectical thought, that is, tocompare ours with the advanced PE curriculum setting modes in the other countries ordistricts and absorb what are the best of them for our usage. Hong Kong is one part of Chinawith the same origin. But because of the history of Hong Kong, its political system, economicsystem and social environment all differ from those of mainland. These factors lead to itsgreater difference in education field from that of the mainland. We can take Hong Kong as abest starting point in doing the comparison with the outside world. We compare and analyze in detail the aim, teaching content and assessment systemwhich are closely related to the PE curriculum settings of the secondary schools in twolocations in our research through the method of document retrieval, interviewing expert, questionnaires, comparison and mathematical statistics. Meanwhile, we demonstrate ournewest thought in the settings of the PE curriculum in secondary schools, which is beneficialto the constant development of secondary PE curriculum. We have got the followingconclusions through doing researches:1. As to the settings of the aim of curriculum: The aim of the PE curriculum inmainland secondary schools focused on “ability”. It includes five aspects, that is,sports participation, sports skills, health, psychological health and socialaccustomation. Hong Kong’s aim in secondary PE curriculum more focuses on being“a bridge”. For example, students should learn to be responsible citizens through thestudy of PE curriculum and get prepared for their further study, etc. But “life-longPE” is the common aim between the PE curriculum in two districts.2. As to the setting of the teaching content: seven modules of teaching contentsdesigned under the frame of the aim of mainland curriculum are more realistic andspecific while those of Hong Kong have quality of continuation and connection.3. As to the setting of curriculum assessment system: When compared in a macro way, Hong Kong has added another assessment outside the campus, that is, let theassessment be in the charge of a third party. When analyzed in a micro way, theprogress that mainland schools have made shows in getting rid of the “teacher’s solecharge in this system”and gradually develops into the combination of three parts:teachers’ assessment, students’ self-assessment and peer assessment. It shows itsweaknesses in assessment, lack of continuation and keeping tracks.
