Teaching environment of optional basketball course, a complex overall system constituted by a variety of elements, plays an important role in the awareness, emotion and behavior in the process of students'learning, whose pros and cons have direct impact on the effectiveness of basketball teaching. The core and ultimate goal of studying it lie in how to optimize the environment, Which is also the focus of the present study , expecting to obtain constructive enlightenments.The literature material, teaching experiment, questionnaire survey, observation and other research methods are employed in the present study, where physical teaching environment and psychological environment which are involved in teaching of optional basketball course are taken as the objects of this study. The author conducts an experiment on two undergraduate classes of Grade 2009 from Northwest Normal University, and draws the following conclusions by attributional analyzing the experimental results:(1) The experiment proved that the effectiveness of its basketball teaching performance is directly impacted by its teaching environment through teaching experiment. Compared to the conventional learning environment, good learning environment is more conductive for students learning to learn technical skills. ( 2) Both of the Control group and experimental group recognized learning is greatly influenced by the following four factors: the space-time environment, data and information environment, organization environment and the interpersonal environment As the control group implements the teaching outside, where the subjects are affected greater from the natural environment and surrounding environment, meanwhile, they hope to improve the effectiveness of learning through better emotional environment, but the experimental group in the indoor location teaching, is small the nature and the peripheral environmental effect, simultaneously the teacher pays great attention the emotion environment the regulation ,so there do exist differences in the physical environment and emotional environment.Based on the conclusions above, the author proposed the following several optimization strategies for the sake of providing reference for the teachers who aim at optimizing the optional basketball course teaching environment. (1) Reversing teacher-student roles, creating situational teaching and optimizing the teaching methods and other means to create a relaxing and harmonious classroom atmosphere, and striving to strengthen the training of teachers and improving their own quality, to optimize the sensibility environment. (2) Arranging a number of collective group activities to enhance interaction between students and thus harmonious personal relationship can be created. (3) Seeking and relying on the support of the leadership, strengthening the spreading of campus basketball culture to build a good tradition and atmosphere for school sports.(4) Strictly controlling the class size, meanwhile, better the formation of arrangement and scheduling, properly distribute the the classroom "teaching" and "learning" time, and to prolong students'practice time to the biggest extent (5) further improving the physical environment to provide a good teaching security if the financial condition permits.
