With the methods of document, interview, questionnaire and mathematical statistics employed, this thesis studies on PE teaching in independent institutes of physical education in Liaoning province. According to the theories of pedagogy, psychology, school sports, sports education, sports teaching and other related theories, and basing on the related documents from the ministry of education, the thesis investigates the evidences of various teaching indicators in the independent institutes of physical education, finds out the deficiency and analyzes its causes. Based on the factual situation of these independent institutes of physical education, perfect sports teaching idea and suggestions are brought out in the thesis, and they provide a reference for these institutes to press on their educational reform.The research results show that: the curriculum teaching standard in these institutes follows accurately with the target of The ordinary university physical education curriculum teaching guidelines (here in after referred to as Guidelines). But, on the whole, their teaching is lack of physical integrated teaching target, without the emphasis of the professional characteristic of each independent institute. Sports events are widely offered in these institutes and are popular to the students. Teaching organization form according to the disrupt classes, is in the form of class type options. Selected sports curriculum only reaches the outline of the required standard of two-year in the Guidelines, and the selected sports curriculum are not offered for the third grade students, which is against the spirit of the Guidelines, Compared to the Guidelines, the credit hours of the theory of PE class is absolutely deficient. The evaluation of PE class emphasizes students'lateral comparison, which is lack of the evaluation of individual evaluation, such as. Student's learning process, personal will, and so on.The sports venues and facilities in these institutes are able to satisfy the teachers' teaching, students having class and their extracurricular exercise. The efficiency, quality and performance of these sports facilities are not high, reaching a so-so level. The maintenance for these sports facilities in usage is lacking and not in time.The faculty in these institutes is mostly part-time teachers, and the age structure, the school age and the structure of professional title of the teachers are unreasonable. The proportion of the masters reaches the requirement of academic title evaluation. Shenyang Institute of Physical education has a large proportion on the learning margin structure of PE teachers. The traditional sports events, such as basketball, aerobics, athletics, football, volleyball, the proportion of which is larger than others. Because of the subjective and objective factors, the chances for teachers' scientific research, teaching research, training and advanced study are less, while the teachers' teaching workload is too large, their benefits are lower, which causes that the teachers' work enthusiasm is not high.The students in these independent institutes are satisfied with the facilities and equipment, which meets the needs of students sports learning but they are not very satisfied with the teachers' teaching.These institutes implement three-level administrative management system, which needs to be reformed into the two-level management system. In part of the institutes, teaching authorities are lack of professional sports professors or experts, which impact the effects of physical examination and supervision.
