The Primary English Curriculum began to be executed as a national compulsory curriculum since the autumn of 2001. The classroom teaching activities based on textbooks is the main means of Primary English Teaching in China. So research on the analysis and use of textbooks is of high value for the execution and practice of Primary English Curriculum.As the reflection of the philosophy of the National English Curriculum Standard, English textbooks are the main media of English teaching activities in the classroom, and one of the central factors in the execution of the English Curriculum. Therefore, many educators and practitioners of English teaching put emphasis on analyzing English textbooks and they have done lots of researches on the analysis of English textbooks from different perspectives. However, among these studies, comprehensively parole-orientated analyses of specific English textbooks are rare.For this reason, this paper first tries to establish the parole-orientate view of the analysis and use of English textbooks, and then analyzes the parole characteristics of the series of Primary English textbooks Learning English published by Hebei Education Press. And more than that, the paper also makes an effort to provide suggestions for using the textbooks.This paper is made up of six chapters. Chapter 1 is the introductory part, which describes the background information, significance, contents and method of the study, and the organization of the paper. Chapter 2 provides a literature review, including previous studies of the teaching materials, textbooks analysis and parole views. Chapter 3, 4 and 5 make up of main body of the paper. Chapter 3 is about the basis, content and significance of the parole-orientated analysis of textbooks as well as the influence of this view on the use of textbooks. In Chapter 4, the parole characteristics of the series of Primary English textbooks Learning English are analyzed. And in Chapter 5, some suggestions for using the textbooks from the parole perspective are provided. Chapter 6 is the conclusion part, in which the author gives a summary of the major findings of the paper, the pedagogical implications and limitations. Some suggestions for future study are also put forward.
