As one of the ways of E-Learning, distance cyber-learning becomes more and more popular with learners, most of whom are high school students. There are many studies show that the number of the high school students who participate in distance cyber-learning is increasing. However, because of the particularity of distance cyber-learning, the students are puzzled by it when learning. Their learning quality is affected by lacking of learning motivation. Thus, in order to improve the quality of distance cyber-learning, the learning motivation of the students who participate in the distance cyber-learning has to be studied. But because there are a variety of learning motivation, it is difficult to cover all the areas of motivation in one study. Based on the situation, this study starts with the achievement motivation which has the greatest impact on learning and tries to find out the main reasons for affecting their achievement motivation by empirical study, aimed at putting forward the strategies of stimulating the achievement motivation and finally improving the quality of distance cyber-learning.This study uses the literature review, experiments, surveys and other research methods to research the high school students who are learning in several cyber-schools in Lanzhou. The statistics of the learners'scores, developing levels and the affective factors of achievement motivation are collected by observation, interview and questionnaire survey. The statistics show that there is an apparently positive correlation between the learners'scores and their achievement motivation. Based on this result, the researchers have studied the potential relationship among all the factors by taking the research one step further. Finally, this study put forward the strategies that can stimulate the achievement motivation of the learners who participate in the distance cyber-learning.This study consists of six chapters.The first chapter is about the background, aims, significance, the research method and some definitions of this study.Chapter two reviews the previous studies on this topic at home and abroad. Besides, it analyzes the current level of research and its shortcomings to support the further research of this study. The third chapter is about the theoretical framework of this study, namely, the theory of achievement motivation and that of cyber-learning. By doing this, this study can have sufficient theoretical support.Chapter four clears the design, procedures, sample analysis and data handling of this study in detail. By analyzing the statistics identifies the characteristics of different learners, the study shows the relationship between achievement motivation and academic scores.The fifth chapter summarizes the affective factors that affect the achievement motivation of the high school students who participate in distance cyber-learning. And with the path analysis method, the researcher analyzes the various factors that have effect on the path of achievement motivation and make the path model. Finally, this study put forward the strategies of stimulating achievement motivation.Chapter six is about the conclusions, implications and limitations of this study.
