Pre ?Qin Days , a relatively independent period , was a stage between the Clan Society and the Feudal Society . It was an important period when Chinese traditional culture and ideas appeared and gradually shaped up, when Chinese education developed from spontaneous state to conscious state and when education thoughts advanced from birth to maturity. In a word , this period was the basis stage for Chinese education. Therefore, study on Chinese education history, especially social education history, should start from this period . The present thesis makes a study of the social education of the pre ?Qin Days, aiming to clear up the original history of Chinese social education , to outline the main respects of the then social education through analysis of historic material and to supply some useful advice to the present society. The thesis consists of five parts. Part One , discussing the concepts of social education home and ~road,introduces a new definition of social ed- ucation. Part Two and Part Three discusse the origin and development of Chinese social education. Part Four presents the social education of the Western Zhou Dynasty through analyzing Zhou Gong?s ideas about social education. Part Five mainly discusses the social education of the then two main schools the Confucianism and the Mohist School. The thesis shows the major respects of the social education during the Spring and Au- tumn period and the period of the Waning States , with Gonfucius , Menciu.~ and Moctu~ as three representatives~. The last part presents some sugges- Lions. The thesis, on the basis of analysis of historic material, with ?teach people how to be as a subject under the then social political background,? presents the main content of the social education during pre ?Qin Days The present thesis, combining with our present reality , points out the posi- tive meaning and value of social education...
