It would be better to teach people the way of fishing than to give thetn fish.?This is an old Chinese saying emphasizing learning method guidance in teaching. This paper deals ~th a comparative research between a series of guiding effouts and their effects in Senior high three biology teaching. Through investigation.the author found that there w~e some conspicuous differences in learning methods between academically successful students and poor students.In coping 憕ith this problem, two study groups were set up.one composed of modetute studentsJhe other composed of pocr students.They were called together for an hour once a weck.They were guided in scientific time alTangemcnt and five basic links(previewing lessons.attending lectures. revision, doing assignments and taking exarns).The combined forms were employed including instmctions. lectures. seminars. interviews. Based on biology teaching and ~iewing from student& perspective and their psychological teatures. the author set an objective.which is to improve the students general learning capacity. Their learning achievements were examined in the Municipal Qualit) Test and the Provincal Oualitv Test and the College Entrance Examination.The results showed that this method have had an obvious effect on thosemoderate students but 憕ith little effect on those poor students.The author holds that teaching students ho~~ to learn is a systematic prograrnJn order to actually give students the 憌ay of tishing?we need to develop students learning capability in a systematic. planned..and effective way.~itbin the ordered system composed of five basic links.
