The problem of learning disability has puzzled people in the educational field for a long time, it is also a hot studying field. There is quite stable percentage of children with learning disability in all ages. The learning disability has blocked the developments of learning achievement, intelligence and personality of children heavily. In the same time, learning disability handicaps the improvement of the whole educational levels. Mathematics is a basic subject in the primary education, and the problem-solving is one of the important contents in the mathematical field, it is also the "bottle-neck" of learning to children with learning disability. Although plentiful of fruits are obtained in the fields of learning disability and mathematical problem-solving, and it is found that problem representations are the key point to problem-solving, the study is still too less in the field which is the function of representation in the problem-solving of children with learning disability. This article studies the pattern of problem-solving, the time of representation, the types of representations, the efficiency of representation, and the differences of representation of various problems of grade 4th students by employing the protocol analysis method and problem-solving materials compiled by ourselves. We also seek after the characteristics and types of the representations of mathematical problem-solving of children with learning disability by contrast that of excellent children. We have concluded the results as follows:1. The problem-solving pattern of children with learning disability accords to the general pattern of problem-solving.2. The time of problem representation of children with learning disability is shorter.3. The types of problem representations are singular, and they are also lack of efficiency.4. The diversity of problem representations are obvious to different kinds of problems of children with learning disabilityBased on our study, we propose some teaching advice to improve the learning statuses of children with learning disability by bettering our teaching and advancing their abilities of problem representations.
