This thesis takes a typical Hakkas village-PeiTian which locates in the west of Fujian as a investigative case, and systematically researches on the Peitian's traditional culture and its modern transmutation in Chinese community great backdrop of profound change at present, by the means of spot investigating.Peitian has produced splendid history and culture hi its more than 500 years' history, which is difficult for other ordinary home villages to realize. Externally, the main embodiment of PeiTian culture is the buildings with "nine halls and eighteen courtyards" ; intrinsically, it possesses an integrate cultural system, which can be summarized: multiplex religions with the Confucianism as core-, ancestry adores the culture of cultivation and readings the believes of bureaucracy and business and different customs. The traditional culture was embodied by means of PeiTian people's extrinsic action and intrinsic psychology.In the great backdrop of Chinese community transmutation, the relationship between tradition and modernity is complex and subtle. The writer thinks that the modern transmutation of the traditional culture of PeiTian is a process which is how to "balance" with external world relationship, along with Intrinsic world relationship in itself, the aim is for the sake of entirety that attains one kind of culture "adaptation" quality.lt is a inevitable tendency of history to the modem transmutation for the tradition, yet, the community environmental element of given age supplied a driving force and probability for the vicissitudes, and the heritage of its own traditional culture, what's more, its special "events and experience" supply necessary orientation of the selection in development way.The research on the traditional culture and its modem transmutation of PeiTian has value in theory, at the same time, it can supply one kind of probable inspiration for modern development of Chinese home village community.
