This is not a just dissertation on history of education, but the author aims to understand the modern civilization process of 20th century China by the research on students of Boone University and Huachung University from historical viewpoint. That is the way the name of the article the Students of Christian Universities and the Vicissitude of Modern China Society comes.Firstly, the author analyzes the date of a long period related to the students of the two universities which including their family backgrounds, area origins , gender ratio, majors and beliefs, from that the author draws a believable picture which can show the basic situation of students of Christian University. Then the author points out the characters of the Boone University and Huachung University as a Christian university and the influence of the vicissitude of modern China on them during the contextualization of Christian University. But the author also figures out the Christian university still kept some inherent characters under modern China history.Secondly, the author analyzes the students' life of study and research, their activities after school, their religion activities, and the relationship between the teachers and students. The focus of this chapter is to discuss whether these activities were Westernized or not, to tell how the spirit and culture of the Christian embodied in campus life, and to discern whether the change of the time tide and society outside campus had effect on the campus life, if there had, what the facts were. At last, the author discusses the relationship between the students of Boone University and Huachung University and the Students Movement in modern china. This chapter applied the specific facts to show that the students of Christian university were not totally westernized, they took actively part in the movements of overthrowing Qing Dynasty and striving for Freedom and Democracy in earlier stage. But after that the students of Boone University and Huachung University which as Christian university stood off the radical Students Movement during a long period, which embodied the special values of the students of Christian university. The author considers because of that the perish of Christian university in Mainland after 1951, in some degree, was a sacrifice of politics.
