A Study On The Infiltration Of Western Cultures Of Christian Universities In Modern China

The Christian University appeared in Chinese as a mean of the infiltration of western cultures in the middle of the nineteenth century. As the institutions of higher education founded in China by Western missionaries, judging from the process of their development, the biggest function of the Christian University was not religious, thought religious purposes were the foundation of their construction. The Christian University put the philosophy of, education, science and technology, and even the concept of society penetrated into China at the process of development for about half-century. This article will put the Christian University in the unbalanced background of the communication between China cultures and Western cultures and study them from the perspectives of culture, education, and political science. Research the Christian University as the channel of western cultures which permeated or spread in china, study the changed circumstances of the Christian University. Analyze the change of their roles during the process and make detailed carding to their Cultural activities.
