The Development And Application Of Web-Based Educational Management Information System

The reform of teaching management method is a very important procedure in instructional reform. It is critical to deeply facilitate the instructional reform. In this article, the process which discusses the design, development and application of the Web-Based Educational Management Information System(EMIS) illuminates the active role in deeply facilitating the reform and enhancing the efficiency of managers in school. So this article has laid a substantial basis for the development and application of the Web-Based EMIS theoretically and practically.In common sense, the Web-Based EMIS is the MIS used concretely in the management field of school. The Web-Based EMIS with the educational management for core is a comprehensive instructional management software system gathering the management of educational administration, students' status, teachers and students, properties of school, books, and systems as a whole. Through the Web-Based EMIS, school managers, teachers and students can frequently and completely inquire, analyze and dispose the information of the instructional progress at anytime and anywhere. So it can accurately reflect the current state of the various school works in time, predict the future by using the previous data, and assist every functional department and headmaster to manage the school from overall situation.The Web-Based EMIS have some characteristics, for example: ① Contain every element in the progress of the instructional management. ②Have sizeable opening characteristics. ③ Provide zero-timed and zero-spaced working environments. ④ Fully embody the sharing, collection, disposal, and usage of the information. ⑤Realize the perfect security and authority system through function division, role assignment and user management. ⑥Fully embody the modernization of management. The Web-Based EMIS has distinct era meaning, for it meets the demand of the information age whose working style has changed. It also meets the demand of managing the school with information, in science and in modernization, and assisting school managers to make right decisions.The Web-Based EMIS is based on the gradual perfection of the network system in the campus and network structure. It adopts reasonable database management system (usually adopt related database management system) and the system of management software popularestablished by popular B/S network calculation mode.The progress of the design and development on the Web-Based EMIS is a systematic progress, so it must follow the general principle and regulation of the development of software, and notice the unique characteristics of the network system in the campus (coring with educational management, moderating every management of each department in school).The procedure of the design and development on Web-Based EMIS includes the following steps: ①development preparation for the system(building development group, assessing viability, establishing development plan); ② requirement analysis of system(researching before development of system, describing the requirement of system, analyzing data current of system); ③design of system(designing the system of software,designing the logic structure, making script of system); ④realization of the system. During the stage of preparation and the research before the development of software, the designer undertakes heavy workload because of the various departments in school and the relative independence of them. In order to facilitate the manager to use, the design of the Web-Based EMIS would better be consistent with the management function of functional departments in school.
