The current trend of thought about lifelong education is a whole new realization and understanding to education since 1960s, which emphases that people should constantly "learn to know, learn to do, learn to live together, and learn to be" to make themselves develop completely and overall. Lifelong learning thought appears and develops during 1970s and 1980s, whose goal is to publicize the subjectivity of learners. Under the effect of lifelong education and lifelong learning thoughts, setting up lifelong education system and learning society and promoting people to study constantly become a conscious choice of education reform for the main nations in the world. In China, the countryside is the difficult point in constructing lifelong education system, meanwhile it is the biggest support for learning society. And countryside adult education, as the important form to carry out the transformation of countryside human resource and advance the countryside towards richness, is a key point of constructing the lifelong education system in countryside. Therefore, on the base of studying the urgency and necessity of the problem with the development of countryside adult education, this thesis analyses the current conditions and problems of it and tries probing into the development of countryside adult education under the background of lifelong education in two levels of theory and practice in hopes of enriching its theory, promoting its practice to speed up constructing lifelong education system and fulfilling learning society earlier in China.This thesis is divided into three parts.The first part presents the urgency and necessity of studying the problem with the development of Chinese countryside adult education. By formulating these two aspects: the problems with countryside, agriculture, and peasant affecting our country's development and stability and countryside adult education concerning the improvement of manpower, the thesis exposes the importance of studying this problem, meanwhile discusses the concept and relations of countryside adult education development in order to make people have a clearer realization to the position and function of it in working out the problems with countryside, agriculture, andpeasant and constructing lifelong education system.The second part analyses the current conditions and problems in Chinese countryside adult education. This part describes the achievements and analyses the problems with Chinese countryside adult education, whose aim lies to approve the achievement but at the same time to point out the current development is not good enough.The third part makes a try on the theory and practice development of Chinese countryside adult education under the background of lifelong education. Here, the author tries probing into the specific thinking about the development of countryside adult education under the background of lifelong education from these two levels: (1) On theory: mainly from the three parts of the aim, curriculum, and teaching to perfect and enrich it. (2) On practice: making the five suggestions to promote it, that is, changing the concepts, strengthening the teachers, standardizing the management, planning the three kinds of educations as a whole, and carrying out community education in hopes of fulfilling a new development of Chinese countryside adult education under the background of lifelong education.In conclusion, the formation and skyrocketing of lifelong education and lifelong learning trend of thoughts supplies a valuable chance, whether or not countryside adult education can catch the chance to develop greatly still relies on the effort degree of our nation, society and schools.
