Therefore, this research paper is based on the reflection of Zambian Early Childhood Education Development. Aim: The aim of this paper was to find out how was the Zambian early childhood education before and after the colonial rule and what method has the Government taken in order to develop early childhood education programs today?Method: The following measures were taken in order to obtain the results. In December 2001, I shared my study interest with my professor who also showed interest. She later on advised me to travel to Zambia for further research. The answers were resolved by carrying out a eight weeks research program in Zambia.Three qualitative research techniques were suitable for data collection. These were Interviews, Document Analysis; observations-this involved visiting preschools in Zambia. Results: It was discovered that there were no early childhood education programs before and after the colonial rule. Education was only available for white people. It was also discovered that after the colonial rule it was difficult for the Government to establish early childhood education programs because the citizens had very little knowledge on the importance of early childhood education programs. However, In 1977 the Government Republic of Zambia put up a number of policies that supported the establishment of early childhood education programs. The paper has also discussed the raising of NGOs and Private Individuals early childhood education programs that supports early childhood education throughout the country. Conclusion: The paper ends up with the discussion of the problems that Zambia is facing in establishing the early childhood education programs. Suggestions and recommendations for further research in this vast interesting field of Early Childhood Education have been proposed in the last chapter. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Early childhood, Education, Development | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
