A new reform experiment in the elementary education curriculumis now under its way in the whole country and neo-curriculum is prevailing among teachers and students. There is greater innovation and breakthrough in the neo-curriculum than that in the present one in the aspects of its system, function, structure, content, performance, evaluation and management, etc. The current curriculum reform demands that the teachers change not only their teaching ideas but also their long-standing instruction-centered teaching method. Meanwhile, it provides conditions and opportunities for the improvement of teachers. Therefore, the current curriculum reform embodies both a challenge and a rare opportunity for the improvement of millions of teachers. With the approach of performance study as its main method of study, the author conducted a yearlong profound study on the issue of how the teachers in the secondary schools change their teaching styles in the curriculum reform. The author, therefore, draws some ideas from the study that, under the notion of neo-curriculum, teachers' performing of new teaching styles in the teaching of chemistry in secondary schools will have an essential effect on helping the establishment of new teaching ideas and the transformation of chemistry teaching style.This thesis includes three sections.Section one: This section analyzes the challenges that the chemistry teachers in secondary schools would meet with after giving an introduction of the notion of neo-curriculum of chemistry and of the characteristics of the new curriculum of chemistry at the full-time compulsory educational stage.Section two: This part illustrates the major problems and shortcomings existing in the traditional chemistry teaching-styles and thus suggests the new chemistry teaching style with the specific property of using "heuristic and research" method under the notion of neo-curriculum. It then suggests the basic strategies, which help realize the change from traditional teaching style into innovative one.Section three: The third section illustrates the real experimental procedure of performing the innovative chemistry teaching style with "heuristic and research" properties. In addition, it analyzes and discusses the results in the experiment, and then gives a relatively deep reflection on the study of the change of the chemistry teaching style in secondary schools under the notion of neo-curriculum.
