In the human being's intelligence structure, thinking lies in the most important position. It affects other intelligent activities greatly. Mankind depends on thinking ability to recognize and transform the world.For a long time, teaching of reading has been the focus point of English teaching, and the reading process has been the focus point of language teaching research. So, in this thesis, the viewpoint is put forward that teachers can improve the students' reading comprehensive abilities by training their thinking abilities in reading process.The theories of reading psychology show that reading process is a complex thinking process in which the brain applies language information and non language information to judge, infer, analyze and synthesize. Based on the theory of cognitive psychology, the thesis elaborates the relationship between reading and thinking arid the relationship between thinking and reading comprehensive ability.Thinking ability is a kind of higher level ability. How to stimulate the students' thinking and develop the students' thinking abilities is a challenging teaching task. According to her own teaching practice, the writer has summed up several training strategies.The writer of this paper has also conducted a one-year experiment.
