From the perspective of teaching practice and through the systematic study of the theory of text analysis, the author proposes the viewpoint of applying text analysis into High School English text teaching. In the first chapter of the thesis, the author discusses why we need to introduce text analysis into Senior English text teaching: text is the basic unit during real communication; text competence is one of the important elements of language communicative competence; there is a high requirement in the aspect of text competence for Senior Middle School students in the new English Course Criterion; text competence has become the basic point of NMET; text analysis has become the new perspective and means for Senior English text teaching. In the second chapter of the thesis, starting from the basic concept of text, the author expounds the basic theory of text analysis and text teaching, and proposes the text teaching strategy of combining top-down with bottom-up; finally the author theoretically demonstrates the feasibility of applying text analysis into Senior English text teaching. In the third chapter of the thesis, with the specific texts, the author discusses how we analyze the texts in real Senior English text teaching. The aspects that we should cover are: background knowledge of the text; macrostructure (genre and textual pattern); microstructure (grammatical connectors, lexical connection and logical connectors); theme-reheme structure and information structure. Then the author presents a teaching sample to demonstrate the basic procedures of text teaching; and finally proves that the text teaching is efficacious with the statistics derived from the text teaching experiment.
