This thesis researches the instructional design of modern distance education. It also introduces the process of development, analysis the great significance to develop modern distance education for the higher education of our country, and introduces all kinds of modes of modern distance education system and technique project. The thesis analysis distance education instructional modes and characteristics, argues the characteristics of the cooperative learning mode and independent learning mode by giving examples. Based on this, the thesis researches the instructional design of modern distance education. College of physics and electrical information engineering Mingxia university, Northwest industry university, China telecom and some colleges of our country try ordering work by recruited students through modern distance education. Moreover, for the sake of research extensive, studies the Bank of World established Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) c'istance learning center in our university. The thesis gives the process, contents and functions of modern distance education instructional design based on two-way real-time video conferencing system. The instructional evaluation is very important to insure the quantity of the distance education. In process of studying on the course, researched on teachers and students who attending the distance education through interview, investigation and the opinion feedback. Moreover, one of the most important content of the modern distance education instructional design is instructional resources. The thesis points out to build a system structure of distance .education, including resources developments and management system developments etc.In whole research process, at first, proceeded the investigation to the international and local present condition in this field, then according to the related studying theories, instructional theories, instructional design theories and actual circumstance, researched the instructional design of the modern distance education. The thesis points out the quality is the key for modern distance education to develop health by commenced from the instructional design, to enhance the quality consciousness of the distance education and to increase its quantity. It also induces a general regulation for proceeding the instructional design in modern distance education and some maneuverability rules that is very important actual meaning to assure the quality of modern distance education.
