A Research On The Statistics Education In Elementary And Junior School In China And Australia

The education of statistics in our country has experienced a lot. In order to answer the practical needs of the coastal cities in China, the new revision of the math textbook edited by have added many contents of statistics and examples to the textbook, which makes a great progress in the statistics education. But compared with the developed countries, our education of statistics is really young. For some historical and social reason, the education of statistics in our country is lagged far behind. Also we are short of experience in statistics teaching, so it is necessary that we should learn the education contents and methods fromforeign countries to improve our teaching standard.In the course of my research, I compared the statistics teaching contents in the New Continent of Wales of Australia, based on the curriculum standard that is issued in September 2002, with that in Shanghai and analyzed it. This thesis aims to improve the teaching standard of statistics in our country by summarizing the insufficiency of our statistics education and learning from the foreign country with the help of the theories of education and teaching.
