The spurt during puberty is the main period of primary identification, and the physical and mental status of table tennis players in their spurt during puberty is the base to identify and train successfully. Therefore, it is important to evaluate synthetically he physical and mental status of table tennis players in their spurt during puberty.On the basis of studying many relevant documents and consulting a lot of experts, the indexes for biology and psychology were determined. The 30 boy students from 5 middle schools in Haidian District and 15 male table tennis players were selected who were born from September, 1987 to August, 1988. the 30 girls students from 3 primary schools in Haidian District and 9 female table tennis players were selected who were born from September,1989 to August,1990. And the margin between the bone age and natural age of all the students and players didn't exceed 0.6. The players who were engaged on long-term training were regarded as the players group, and the students who were not engaged on professional exercise were regarded as the students group. The tests on the biology and psychology were taken. The conclusions were as fellows: 1 The characteristics of physical and mental development of table tennis players were researched in the spurt during puberty in this thesis. The conclusion indicated the table tennis players were different in physique, body composition ,the function of the heart and lung and psychology characteristics from students.2 There was difference in many physiology indexes which indicated the characteristics of physical and mental development between male and female table tennis players, which was related to the different development status of every system of boys and girls in the spurt during puberty3 Some physiological indexes of table tennis players which were related to didn't precede the students which could be related to the characteristics of table tennis, or development in their puberty covered temporarily the effect from long-term training.4 Some aspect of the personality and self-conscious of table tennis players were different from the students, which indicated we should pay attention to the mental health of adolescent players who were the special group.5 Considering the influence of heredodiathesis inherited characteristics, the characteristics of physical and mental development of table tennis players in the spurt during puberty were summarized generally, we found the heritability of many indexes was higher, which shows the degree of the influence of long-term and systematic training was judged by the heritability of the indexes.6 According to the analysis of the training system of male and female table tennis players in this study, on the basis of the characteristics of physical and mental development of table tennis players in the spurt during puberty, the study indicated we should pay attention to the particular age period, and arrange the training reasonably, pay close attention to their education, and reform the training system.
