The integrated approaches to Chinese learning, as a newly-explored curriculum pattern based on a new round of basic educational reform concerning the Chinese language teaching, have been put into effect and brought about plenty of beneficial experiences and satisfactory results in many different cities. However, the ultimate success in carrying out the approaches depends decisively on how to make all these experiences and achievements available, practical and beneficial in the large rural areas in west China.Since the newly-shaped curriculums were introduced to some certain schools in Qin'an in 2003, a lot of follow -up surveys on their performance in practice have been made successively As a result ,a careful analysis of various first -hand information fed back from 5 the local schools shows that those approaches feature available in practice and meanwhile there is still some room for improvement .On one hand ,there are features beneficial to the integrated approaches on both teachers and students. The teachers begin to refresh further understanding ability and take an active participate in the new round of curriculum reform as well as the integrated approaches to Chinese learning in a high spirit and therefore they are more active in developing their related professional skills and devoting themselves in their carees As for the students, they are more likely to benefit from this package of curriculum reform quite a lot and show much interest in this integrated Chinese learning On the other hand, there seems to be a long way to go ,for a few teachers lack enough understanding of these new approaches and their previous knowledge and idea are out of date Teachers tend to be loaded with huge class size and not easy to organize some usual teaching activities in too limited given time for the newly-shaped curriculums. Little has been done by different levels of educational administration to emphasize or encourage this reform at schools. Limited local educational resources have not yet been fully explored and implied for necessary services in teaching New teaching theories and student -oriented approaches have not yet established, while those dull and old -fashioned methods of Chinese learning are still overwhelming in some poorly-informed areas. The school textbooks are too boring, uniform and urban-oriented in content. What is to be trained and evaluated concerned hascomparatively been left behind the new curriculums.Based on a careful analysis of the actual situation in practice of the integrated approaches to junior-Chinese learning in Qin'an County and some related theories as well as the research followed, we have come up with a series of possible strategies and solutions as below, (i) Change our previous opinions and establish new idea of Chinese teaching and learning.(ii)Make a close study of the performance principles and teaching patterns of Chinese integrated learning. (iii)Explore the local educational resources and imply by all means and enable students to develop fully, soundly, and multiply in physiology and personality. (iv)Promote professional training. (v)Establish a new evaluation system and continue to speed up the Chinese learning process in an integrated way. (vi)The local educational authorities should be highly responsible for the energetic management, the curriculum reform and various sound regulations as well as the normalization and standardization of the integrated Chinese learning at the rural schools.
