The School of Zhe Dong Shi Gong occupied a major position in Southern Song Dynasty , it developed at that time and became the opposite side of neo-confucianism. Generally speaking, the historians consider Chen Liang, Ye Shi and Lv Zu-qian as the representatives of the School of Zhe Dong Shi Gong. As Lv Zu-qian's thought is more similar to Zhu Xi's neo-confucianism, the School of Zhe Dong Shi Gong which this thesis referred to mainly includes Chen Liang's Yongkang School and Ye Shi's Yongjia School. As the main representatives of the School of Zhe Dong Shi Gong, Chen Liang and Ye Shi's thought of moral education, just like their thought of philosophy ,politics, economy and history, also has utilitarian character. The thesis mainly demonstrates four chapters concerning Chen Liang and Ye Shi's thought of moral education as follows:The first chapter analyses the historical background of their thought of moral education from three aspects: social political background, economic background and cultural background . Then the author discusses the theoretical sources of their thought of moral education, including theory sources, such as Zhang Zai's Guangzhong School and Cheng brothers' Luoyang School; their teachers and friends, such as Xue Ji-xuan, Chen Fu-liang and Zheng brothers. On the basis of which, the chapter discusses the theoretical basis of Chen Liang and Ye Shi's thought of moral education, especially their philosophical basis and ethical basis. The second chapter describes the construction of Chen Liang and Ye Shi's thought of moral education. Their idea system mainly consists of three aspects: the purpose of moral education , the content of moral education and the method of moral education. The third chapter is a detailed analysis on Chen Liang and Ye Shi's thought of moral education. On the one hand, according to the views of historical materialism and dialectical materialism , as the landlord scholar , Chen Liang and Ye Shi undoubtedly were on behalf of their social class and restricted by their social class. To a great extent, theycouldn't separate themselves from feudal morality, so their thought of moral education had some historical limitations. On the other hand, as the representatives of the School of Zhe Dong Shi Gong, their thought had many utilitarian characters. However, as far as utilitarianism was concerned, Chen Liang and Ye Shi greately differed from Western Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill in the category, the objective, the character etc.The fourth chapter attaches much importance to modern value and enlightenment of Chen Liang and Ye Shi's thought of moral education. The author considers that as Chinese ancient educationists, although Chen Liang and Ye Shi paid excessive attention to utilitarianism and practical questions, what's more, their thought on moral education lacked for theoretical connotation and did not form a complete theory system , the value view, purpose view, content view and method view in their thought of moral education have great significances on our current moral education.
