Analysis Of Current Situation Of Physical Development On Girls From Health Schools And Middle Schools In Huhhot Area

There have been many references on the development index of adolescent who were mainly pupils or high school students. However, as for the girls from nursing schools, their constitutional development characteristics or levels have not been researched. So far, the comparison of the status on constitutional development has not been reported between the girls from nursing schools and ones from general schools. From October to November in 2002, 539 Han girls (urban 331, rural 208) aged 16-19 from 2 nursing schools were invested in Huhhot area. The invested items included 3 morphological indices (height, weight and chest circumference), 1 functional index (vital capacity), and menarche. 570 Han girls (urban 316, rural 254) aged 15-18 from 4 general schools in the same area were also invested at the same time. The invested items were height, weight, chest circumference and vital capacity. All data were grouped according to age and areas (urban or rural). To each age group, we calculated the means and standard deviations including 4 constitutional indices, and body superficies derived from them, and nine development indices (Livi, Vervack, Broca, BMI, Brugsch, height vital capacity , weight vital capacity , chest circumference vital capacity and body superficies vital capacity index ). By u-test, the differences of 14 indices above-mentioned were compared between the urban and the rural, or between groups, or between the nationwide and the whole municipality in the 4 groups. The aims, in this study, were to know the constitutional development status of the girls from nursing schools, and to discuss there were development differences whether or not between the girls in different environment. The results shown that, (1) in the health schools from Huhhot area, the current situation of physical development in Han girls was closer between the urban and the rural ones. On the whole, their morphological development was on the middling and a little better level in the nationwide area and the whole municipality. (2) As for the middle schools in Huhhot area, the urban girls physical development were better than the rural ones between the same age groups,and their morphological development was on the middling and leaning to the first-classing level in the nationwide area and the whole municipality. (3) In the health schools, the girls' development of chest was better obviously than those in the middle schools. And as for all of the girls, from the two types schools, their development level on this index are better significantly than the average level in the nationwide area and the whole municipality. (4) In two types schools, the Han girls' development of lung function were not well, lower than the nationwide or municipality average, especially for those from health schools and the urban girls were lower than the rural. (5) In the health schools from the Huhhot area, the average age of menarche was 12.66 0.04 in the urban girls, and 13.06 0.04 in the rural girls, with the significant difference between the urban and the rural. Compared with the average of the whole municipality, the two averages were all earlier. (6) As far as the month distribution of menarche was concerned, the fastigium was in summer, and there was the least in spring. The month distribution of menarche had two peaks, with one in October for the urban girls, and another in July for the rural girls.
