China's FLT has made great progress since the program of emphasizing the knowledge teaching,"the double bases" training and carrying on the empowerment education started decade ago. But it'snot enough to change the teaching methods as it cannot change the foreign language teachingthoroughly. Since teaching is bilateral, we can't teach well if we don't know much about students'learning. That is the fact that teachers exactly play an important role in the teaching process, but wecan't ignore the role which learners play in the teaching-learning process. Therefore, we must payattention to the research of study process, including the research of learning strategies, which weshould also think highly of. With the development of senior English reading teaching, we, the teachershave to realize that it is not enough to teach learners only language knowledge but to create anenvironment for them, which they can learn humane knowledge and science knowledge. During thelearning process, we should help the learners to develop their thinking ability and the ability of the useof language with the help of computers.As was stated above, if we want to improve the effect of English teaching, we have to improve thescience characters of the teaching model; the teachers should understand the concept of effectiveteaching and learning; we should make efforts to encourage learners to learn happily and willingly.Education is concerned not just with theories of instruction, but with learning to learn, developingskills and strategies to continue to learn, with making learning experiences meaningful and relevant tothe individual, with developing and growing as a whole person. The social constructivist modelaffirms that four factors of teachers, students, task and context affect study process, so in the thesis Iintend to talk about what the model can bring in to our traditional teaching beliefs and think of how tocarry on senior English reading teaching with the guidance of the model and how to carry on thetraining of reading strategies in reading teaching process. The purpose of trying using the model is toimprove the scientific quantity of senior English reading teaching model. Under the guidance of thesocial constructivist model, I began attempting to practise the above idea in daily work. That is, I raisea new reading teaching model which bases on the social constructivist theory. It uses computers andthe internet as mediation. I think that it is useful for improving the effect of English teaching, and itcan be helpful for developing the learners' learning skills and strategies.The...
