Reading teaching is the main part of the teaching on Chinese in the school, especially in the senior school. The good or bad results of it are directly related to success or failure and also students' ability to Chinese. A successful teacher of Chinese should grasp a key link in the teaching chain.The writer consult a lot works and papers on the reading teaching about Chinese of the high school. Firstly, we should be clear about the content of it in order to explore, study and analyze the present situation of the high school Chinese reading teaching in the city of Longnan. For it, the writer learn from others strong points and offset their weaknesses at the base of studying and using all school of theories and summaries five pieces of key contents.Secondly we should also be clear about some procedures in the reading on Chinese, For it, the writer accept the opinions to Wei Zhicheng, the educator of Chinese, the professor in Wuhan teachers' college and divide the teaching procedure into four stages: understanding, analyzing, appreciating and practicing. Besides it should be necessary to grasp its methods. For it, the writer use some of its methods in common use: the lecturing method, the method of putting questions and the method of situations.After catching the important contents of these methods in terms of the theory , the writer combine theory with practice , survey and analyze the present situation. In this passage , the writer mainly discover some problems from three sides of the lecturing reading, self-reading in and out of classAiming at these, the writer find 4 points of causes: the old educational ideas; not correctly dealing with teaching materials; not catching senior students' psychology of reading study; ignoring the activities of teaching and research .Finally the writer put forward countermeasures of reading teaching to improve in the city of Longnan. Here are some tips:1. Suggesting junior teachers strengthening reading teaching in the junior school and paying more attention to comprehension and accumulation 2. Dealing with reading materials and defining the key contents of reading teaching 3.Carefully designing teaching procedures of reading and meticulously choose reading teaching methods 4. Playing the main part of students and fostering the students' ability to read on their own 5. Arousing the students' reading interest as well as laying stress on the reading habit's forming 6. Not only the aims defining the aims of reading but also strengthening reading directing out of class.
