CUBA—a basketball game taking young undergraduates as leading actors—began at the year of 1998. Since its beginning, it has become one of the most famous basketball competitions in China. During these six years, it has been an outstanding sports item and a great innovation among Chinese basketball circles and college physical education. This paper compared the differences of the development between CUBA and NCAA basketball tournament caused by their different culture, and we expected to give some promising suggestions for the further developing of CUBA.As is known to all, "culture involves three phases: spiritual, behavioral and material. Sports culture as an aspect of culture follows this classification/' Taking sports culture as a whole, "for spiritual, sports thoughts and sports value take major position. Behavioral culture is the reflection of the impact of spiritual culture on peoples' sports behavior and sports life. The material culture of sports is the reflection of spiritual culture on peoples' real practices. Basketball culture as a subculture also consists of three phases. This paper began at analyzing the three phases of basketball culture, and tried to compare the differences between CUBA and NCAA basketball tournament.By the research methods of literature analysis, questionnaire, mathematical statistic and comparative analysis, adopting some theories and knowledge of sport psychology, sport training, sports management learns, this thesis analyzes and studies CUBA and NCAA basketball tournament from the three phases of basketball culture.Study shows:(1)Chinese and American basketball culture were formed in different their own big cultural atmosphere, so CUBA and NCAA basketball tournament displayed different national conditions.
