With the development of the society and the globalization of the economy in China, it' s more and more important to grasp the skills of the foreign languages. When teaching English in senior middle school, I find that listening and speaking remain a big problem for the students in spite of their great improvement in vocabulary and reading.According to that, the Integration Course of Senior English takes the method of giving students separate teaching in listening, speaking, reading and writing for the purpose of separate training, based on a thorough research on the new curriculum of senior English. What' s more, the Integration Course of Senior English combines the required course and elective course together closely. It sets some elective courses in the light of both the requirement of the new curriculum of senior English and the ability of the students and the school.As a mass scientific task of Chongqing for the year 2002, the Integration Course of Senior English is doing its research by the way of experiment. The experiment discovers: the Integration Course of Senior English is such an integrated one that it combines not only the separate skills of English but also knowledge and life, knowledge and practice, as well as knowledge and interest.It' s point of penetration lies in the following aspects:(1) It ensures the all-sided development of the English language skills by giving students listening, speaking, reading and writing classes, and at the same time avoids losing the balance for the past years.(2) The offer of the elective course shows the students enough space to use English. In this way, it improves the model of English teaching in the past that emphasized the pass of the English knowledge singly.(3) The integration course is based on the practical situation and it has the feature of the certain school, so it can reflect the modern teaching thought of humanism to feature the personalities.For training talented persons for the future, the Integration Course of Senior English lays its key points on students' English practical abilities, their emotions and their recognition towards the international world, which helps the full development of the English language skills, emphasizes the use of the language, renews the teaching ideas, reflects the spirit of the humanism and the essence of the New Curriculum Standard of Senior English as well.
